What is Giclée?
Unlikely though it may sound, giclée comes from the French verb gicler - to splash, to squirt - and pronounced "zhee-clay".
A giclée is a high resolution digital print and is a recognized fine art print category like lithographs and serigraphs. Giclée is considered the world's best technique for reproducing original works of art.
A fine stream of pigment ink, millions of droplets per second, is sprayed onto archival artists watercolour paper to produce extraordinarily high quality prints which are virtually indistinguishable from the original artwork. They have both the look and feel of the original. The paper we use is made from 100% pure cotton, acid free and traditionally mould formed to achieve the perfect surface finish. Lightfast pigment inks in conjunction with archive quality paper ensure that the prints will last well into the next century and represent a sound investment. Oil paintings may be reproduced on different media.
The service we offer to local artists is to scan and reproduce their work, printing at reasonable cost limited edition prints in short runs or on demand.
In addition, we offer web site creation and management and help and advice with domain names and all aspects of the internet.
